The 2017 Vacqueyras Beaumirail, an identical blend of 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 5% each Cinsault and Mourvèdre, boasts aromas of black raspberries. Medium to full-bodied, it's a bit tough and tannic, in need of further élevage and perhaps bottle age, but it's undeniably concentrated and richly textured.

From the cave cooperative in neighboring Gigondas, the 2015 Vacqueyras Beaumirail is a notable effort. It's full-bodied and fully ripe, with dark-skinned fruit, hints of cola and mocha and some creaminess on the mid-palate, turning firm on the finish. Drink it young, while it still shows a bit of freshness.
