The 2012 Alto Adige Pinot Grigio opens to a luminous golden-straw color and chiseled aromas of citrus, white peach, honey and crushed flint. The wine is brimming with energy and freshness and moves over the palate with tonic, steely freshness. A food-friendly Grigio like this would make a great companion to crispy fried shrimp or spicy tuna sushi. The wine’s steep 14% alcohol is surprisingly well-integrated.
