Alois Gross’ 2006 Weissburgunder Steierische Klassik points up the virtues of this vintage for what Styria terms their “classic style” (rendered in either tank or – as in this instance – in large ovals): delicacy, refinement, and early drinkability. There is a lovely subtle creaminess of texture and hazelnut and lemon characteristic of the variety. It would be almost impossible not to be charmed by this relatively low-key wine. Alois Gross harvested his entire crop in less than three weeks during October.Importer: Vin Divino, Chicago, IL; tel. (773) 334-6700
