The 2020 Gaia is composed of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc and is a svelte, herbal rendition of Clare Valley Cabernet(s). It has notes of violets, lavender, red apples, cassis, garden mint, licorice, brine, nori, peppercorns and a hint of pastrami. It is very elegant, but not shy. I really love the ductile tannins—firm but pliable. Bottled with 14% alcohol, sealed under Stelvin closure. Only 200 cases were made this year, in this very low-yielding vintage. From memory, the 2019 was more in the vicinity of 5,000 bottles (over 400 dozen).
