The 2008 The Wanted is a blend of 71% Cabernet Sauvignon and 29% Cabernet Franc sourced from the Stillwater Creek Vineyard. Wood smoke, pencil lead, Asian spices, incense, and black currant aromas compose the bouquet of this dense, layered, rich effort. It conceals enough structure to evolve for another 2-3 years and offers a drinking window extending from 2013 to 2023. Guardian Cellars was launched in 2003 by Jerry Riener, a full-time police officer, hence some of the names assigned to his wines. The inky purple 2007 The Wanted Stillwater Creek Vineyard is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Cabernet Franc aged in 100% new French oak for 22 months. It offers up aromas of pain grille, pencil lead, violets, spice box, black currant, and blackberry. Concentrated and dense on the palate, it is in need of a bit more complexity.
