Blackcurrant and rose petal with some lavender and sage flower undertones. It’s medium-bodied with fine tannins that are polished and beautiful. Orange peel undertone. Subtle and refined. Very drinkable but better in 2023.

A great value wine, the I Greppi 2020 Bolgheri Rosso Greppicante is 60% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon all aged in second and third-use barrique. Fruit is sourced over an eight-hectare vineyard located just above sea level with a mix of sand and clay soils that are characteristic of Bolgheri. The pretty bouquet reveals cherry cream, coffee, toasted biscuit, candied violet and more floral tones to follow. The effect is balance, and the tannins are tucked within the wine's medium-rich texture. This is an ample production of 90,000 bottles.

A nice blended red for some meat ravioli, the 2018 Bolgheri Rosso Greppicante is 60% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Cabernet Franc. This wine is shaped both by the intensity and darkness of its fruit and by the spicy and smoky nature of its brief oak aging. Greppicante is the more accessible and immediate of the two red wines presented by this estate, and the palate is rather compact and mid-weight overall. This was a cool vintage, and the results are contained and pliant. An ample 80,000 bottles were made.

The classic Cabernet Sauvignon fragrances that come streaming from the 2016 Bolgheri Rosso Greppicante accompany a dark and saturated wine that is loaded tight with bold fruit intensity. This blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc is soft and succulent and very intense in this vintage, although the mouthfeel is mid-weight. Some 80,000 bottles were made, and you get excellent value here.

Here's a good value wine. Redolent of primary fruit with fresh blackberry and black currant at the front, the 2015 Bolgheri Rosso Greppicante is a youthful, dark and chewy red wine. The wine's appearance is inky dark and sports a solid garnet-blackish color. This wine is more about muscle and brawn than finesse and complexity. It speaks in a loud, clear voice and is designed to leave little else to the imagination. A young red wine of this thickness and constitution would pair with pappardelle pasta with wild boar ragù. The blend is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc.
