The 2007 Road Less Traveled Cabernet Franc is made up of 83% Cabernet Franc and 11% Merlot from the outstanding Weinbau Vineyard and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Bacchus Vineyard. It was aged for 13 months in 20% new French oak. Medium ruby-colored, it displays an incipiently complex nose of Asian spices, sage, thyme, olives, black currant, and blackberry. Supple, round, and savory on the palate, it has plenty of layered fruit, lots of spice, and a lengthy, fruit-filled finish. It may well evolve for 1-2 years but can be enjoyed now. Brett and Denise Isenhower began their Walla Walla-based winery in 1999. Their response to recessionary times has been to cut production and move primarily to direct sales. As a result, they have established a tasting room in Woodinville (where the customers are located).Tel. (509) 526-7896; www.isenhowercellars.com
