Made with a splash of Merlot, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Red Mountain displays a dark ruby core and magenta highlights at the rim and offers aromas of dusty blackberry, dark cherry and sage along with notes of crème de cassis and cardamom madeleines. Full-bodied, the wine has a frame of juicy fruit with a dusty undercurrent and notes of wild brush, sand-blown leather, plum reduction and dried tobacco that flutter across the mid-palate with buttressing tannins. The Cabernet concludes with a firm, dusty finish with a lingering sensation of bitter dark chocolate and dried currants. The wine rested for 20 months in all French oak, 50% new.
