Kalin's new releases include what is certainly their best sparkling wine to date. Only 500 cases were made of the barrel-fermented 1987 Potter Valley Cuvee Rose. The color is deep, similar to a Krug or Dom Perignon Rose, and the nose offers a huge fragrance of red berry fruit. The palate impression is one of richness, full body, and considerable flavor authority and individuality. Those weaned on California's relatively green, flavorless sparkling wines will find this to be a superb rose sparkling wine. The wine was aged three years sur-lees before bottling.
