Knipser's 2020 Riesling Steinbuckel GG is pure, fresh and precise on the intense and elegant nose that reveals delicate and spicy phenolic notes intertwined with ripe, white fruit aromas. Full-bodied, round and silky on the palate, this is an elegant and grippy, wonderfully tight but still sensual and refined Riesling GG with a long, tight and structured finish. This is a long-distance runner that already tastes impressively well but will gain finesse and complexity with bottle age. Personally, I am currently in love with the 2001 Steinbuckel. 12.5% stated alcohol. Diam cork. Tasted in Neustadt and Laumersheim in June 2023.

The 2018 Steinbuckel Riesling GG is bright, precise and coolish on the nose that is flintier and more citric than the Mandelpfad. Pure and vital on the palate, this is a full-bodied, concentrated, straight and somewhat edgy but tensioned Riesling vinified in 600-liter halbstücks. Very long and intense on the tightly mineral finish. Very complex and promising. Tasted at the domaine in March 2020.

The intensely citrus-colored 2015 Laumersheim Steinbuckel Riesling Trocken GG is from a slightly cooler and windier, more west-orientated site with other clones compared to the Mandelpfad. The bouquet is coolish, fresh and stony, lovely, pure and mineral; it offers flinty flavors along with lemon zest aromas. Very precise. On the palate, this is a full-bodied, very clear, pure and highly elegant, dry Riesling full of salt, finesse and tension. The finish is piquant, precise, concentrated and very, very long, thanks to the perfect mineral and phenolic structure.

The 2014 Steinbuckel Riesling Trocken GG is less generous on the nose than the 2015, but deep, fresh and stony, with herbal and nutty/almond aromas. There is a great elegance, finesse and vitality on the palate, and first hints of maturity are revealed. The finish is pure, very intense and salty, revealing the characteristics of this cru as well as the vintage, which was superb here.

The 2010 Steinbuckel Riesling GG displays an intense and fluorescent yellow-green color. The nose shows fascinating honey, beeswax, blossom and very fine, concentrated mirabelle aromas. Full-bodied, intense and concentrated on the palate, this is a rich, dense and juicy, very pure and racy Riesling with great vitality and concentration. A great wine that drinks perfectly from a Burgundy glass, but it's still a baby and worthy of aging for another 10 to 15 years. Tasted at the domaine in March 2020.
