The 2010 Orvieto Classico Superiore Poggio Calvelli is a simple, refreshing white with clean, well-articulated fruit and a crisp finish. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2014. The 2009 Orvieto Classico Poggio Calvelli is a gorgeous wine. A floral bouquet leads to bright, well articulated white fruits, flowers and minerals, all of which come together in a crisp, mid-weight style. Creamy notes add a touch of volume on the finish. This single-vineyard Orvieto is much improved now that it is aged exclusively in stainless steel. Even better, it is a huge overachiever in its price range. The 2007 Orvieto Poggio Calvelli is pretty and refined in its layers of honeyed fruit. The wine possesses lovely balance and a long finish. Best of all, it is a terrific value.
