The 2008 Gran Reserva spent 20 months in mostly French oak. It is a blend of 39% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Carmenere, 29% Syrah, and 1% Petit Verdot. Purple in color with an inviting nose of toasty oak, exotic spices, herbs, floral notes, and assorted black fruits, on the palate it is surprisingly forward although there is enough underlying structure to support another 2-3 years of cellaring. This flavorful blend will be at its best from 2013 to 2018. Laura Hartwig’s new releases from the Colchagua region offer both value and quality.Importer: Steve Ward, Oasis Wines, Napa, CA; tel.
