The 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc is a barrel-fermented and aged blend of 40% Clairette, 40% Roussanne and 20% Grenache Blanc. It's toasty on the nose, despite the oak being previously used, with notes of lime and pear in support. In the mouth, it's medium to full-bodiied and silky but a bit tight, and there's a touch of mocha on the lime-zest-tinged finish. While it may not be the most classical example of white Chateauneuf, it is an excellent wine.

A blend of Grenache Blanc, Clairette and Roussanne, the 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc is an attractive, medium to full-bodied white wine for drinking over the next year or two. Plump and generous, it's more about weight and texture than overt flavor, although it does give up hints of tangerine, melon and lime.

Back on form, the 2018 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc is an impressive effort. A barrel-ferment and aged blend of 40% each Clairette and Roussanne, rounded out by 20% Grenache Blanc, it delivers bright, penetrating aromas of crushed pineapple and key lime. It's full-bodied but zesty, with hints of bitter citrus pith and a long, mouthwatering finish. I'm not sure how it will age, so I'd drink it while young and fresh.

A bit of a disappointment after the excellent 2016, the full-bodied 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc features attractive notes of smoke, struck match, honey and popcorn, but it lacks depth, richness and citrusy length. Drink it over the next year or so.

The barrel-fermented 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc saw 30% new oak, giving its orange-scented aromas an attractive scorched note. This full-bodied blend of 50% Roussanne, 30% Clairette and 20% Grenache Blanc features a silky texture and a long, layered, Creamsicle-like finish. I wouldn't bet on it aging well, but for drinking now it's hugely seductive.
