Very deep purple-black colored, the 2009 Gumprs’ Block Shiraz gives intense notes of ripe blackberries, cassis and spearmint with hints of lavender and damp soil. Medium-bodied with plenty of ripe berry and mint flavors, it has a medium level of grainy tannins, medium-high acid and a long, spicy finish. Drink this one now through 2016+. Like the Viognier and Riesling, the 2005 Shiraz Gumpr’s is an excellent value.
