The 2021 Wilyabrup Cabernet Sauvignon is light to mid-weight and delicate, but it has a dark resinous background to the fruit, which has green inflections running through it. The fruit is pretty, almost mulberry, cassis, garden herbs, etc., but equally, the tannins are a little sticky through the finish, detracting from the purity of the picture in the foreground. Perhaps this will be one of those wines that evolves into an older, graceful wine; it is certainly delicate enough to move in that ethereal direction. 13.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.

A blend of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Merlot made using 40% new French oak with a 20-month maturation, the medium to deep garnet-purple colored 2011 Wilyabrup Cabernet Sauvignon presents aromas of blackberry preserves, kirsch, cedar and warm cassis along with hints of pencil shavings, camphor and roses. Medium-bodied, it has a firm foundation of somewhat astringent tannins and crisp acid cutting through the tightly wound, muscular fruit. It finishes a little austere. Drink it now to 2019+. No known USA importer.

A blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot, the deep garnet colored 2009 Wilyabrup Cabernet Sauvignon gives notes of black currant cordial and plum preserves with nuances of cigar boxes, soy, slightly burnt toast and yeast extract. Medium to full-bodied, it is highly-structured in the mouth by firm, grainy tannins and crisp acid, giving backbone to the muscular, savory and slowly evolving fruit. The finish is long with the oak standing out a little. Drink it now to 2019. No known USA importer.

Blended of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12% Merlot, the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon is an even more serious yet nonetheless elegant offering. Deep garnet purple colored, it is just starting to evolve on the nose giving a moderate intensity of blackberry, warm plum, spice box, Mediterranean herbs and coffee aromas. Medium bodied with around 13.5% alcohol, it has firm, finely grained tannins with just enough fruit flesh and a very long finish. Drinking from now, it has the capacity to develop further and should cellar through 2018. Lenton Brae produces a distinctively elegant style of wines that possess very good concentration and persistence with moderate alcohols. No known USA importer.
