The 2007 Overthinker (70% Zinfandel and the rest Syrah and Mourvedre) is a pretty wine with elegant floral notes intermixed with blue and black fruits. It is medium to full-bodied, with superb purity, texture, and length. Drink it over the next 7-8 years. A blend of 50% Grenache, 40% Syrah, and 10% Mourvedre, the 2007 Overthinker is characterized by its dazzling fruit intensity and purity. An exuberant wine made from a ridiculously low 0.8 tons of grapes per acre from the estate, the wine has considerable power (15.2% alcohol), but the purity, texture, succulence, and explosive finish that lasts for more than 35 seconds are all admirable. This wine should drink nicely for at least 7-8 years. This is one of my favorite wineries in the Central Coast. The brain trust behind it is the one and only Matt Trevisan, who has moved into a state-of-the-art winery and barrel-aging facility. Additionally, he is just beginning to get some fruit off the first plantings in the 18-acre estate vineyard. Production is up to about 3,800 to 4,000 cases, although like everyone else in the Central Coast region, yields have been very small in 2007, 2008, and 2009. 2008 has turned out very well for Trevisan, but the yields were extremely small.Tel.
