This wine has been re-submitted to me, so I tasted it again to see how it has faired since I last tasted it. Today, the 2020 Four Roads Grenache is meaty, chunky and shaped by prolific tannins. Now that the abundant primary fruit has receded, this has gained momentum and become an earthy, full-bodied thing. I think I preferred it the first time—but in all fairness to it, it has evolved into a different style of wine. Your call. It's bigger today than on release. 14% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.

Aged in older barrels, the 2018 Four Roads Grenache comes from 90+-year-old vines. Like most top McLaren Vale Grenaches, it shows bright acidity in conjunction with ripe, supple tannins. It's full-bodied and generous, loaded with strawberries, cranberries and some delicate herbal nuances that come across as almost herbal tea-like on the lingering, silky finish.

Medium ruby/purple, the 2013 Four Roads Grenache has red currant jelly, raspberries and kirsch with notes of baking spices, pepper and dusty earth. Medium to full-bodied and a little tart and hard in the mouth with some herbals coming through, it finishes medium to long.

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2012 Four Roads Old Vine Grenache has notes of warm black cherries, black raspberries and red plum compote with an undercurrent of baking spices and roses. Medium to full-bodied, soft and with mouth-filling rich red berry preserves flavors, it has lovely harmony and generosity through the long spicy finish. Drink it now to 2018+. Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2011 Four Roads Grenache offers aromas of raspberry preserves, black pepper, orange peel, mulberries and kirsch.
