Hints of menthol and cedar shavings accent dark cassis fruit on the nose, while the full-bodied palate delivers layers of rich, velvety tannins and vanilla-tinged blackcurrants. Plush enough to be approachable now, it has the stuffing to age gracefully for at least a decade.

The vines for Maxwell's 2016 Lime Cave Cabernet Sauvignon are Reynella clone, planted in 1972. It boasts gentle herbal nuances on the nose, concentrated cassis fruit, and plush layers of oak. It's medium to full-bodied, supple and relatively easy to drink for a young Cab, turning silky and redcurrant-like on the mouthwatering finish.
