The Moncaro 2014 Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Riserva Classico Vigna Novali is partially aged in oak (some 20% of the mass goes into barrel), and you get a tad more structure and textural fiber as a result. It's not much but just enough to pair with a grilled fish or spicy chicken drumsticks. The bouquet is redolent of orchard fruit, pear, honey and dried garden herb. (As a matter of housekeeping, I notice that many producers write out the appellation name as Castelli di Jesi Verdicchio, as is the case here). Some 10,000 bottles were made.
