Employing 25% new oak this is still rather woody on the nose. The palate actually displays much more balance and refinement than previous vintages with some bright black cherry fruit, a touch of redcurrant and plum. Good acidity cutting through on the finish. Good potential but just a little surly at present. Drink 2009-2014. Tasted January 2008.

With only 56 cases imported, it may be a challenge to track down some of this full-bodied, slightly chunky Pinot Noir. The oak is a little too evident at this early stage, with toast and vanilla notes laying atop deeper notes of black cherries and spice, but give it 2–3 years and it shouldstart to sing.——J.C.(3/1/2009)—— 91
