In the difficult 2000 vintage, the big reds were aged in one-third new oak. Su Hua purchases only French oak, which she air dries for three years. The declassified Merlot fruit was bottled as the 2000 Merlot Special Cuvee (6,200 cases). With plenty of tasty, chocolaty berry fruit, high alcohol, and a straightforward, pinched, rustic personality, it will offer uncritical drinking over the next 4-5 years. (Release date 9/02)Tel.
