The 2007 Terrazze Retiche di Sondrio Ca’ Brione is an interesting white made from Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Incrocio Manzoni plus Chiavennasca, the local variety of Nebbiolo, which here is fermented without skin contact. The fruit is air-dried for roughly fifteen days before being fermented in oak. This is a unique white wine that shows lovely balance in its beguiling aromatics and sweet, perfumed fruit. The wine possesses excellent depth and richness in a medium-bodied style, with a note of minerality that brings the wine into focus on the finish. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2010.
This is a very strong set of wines from Nino Negri, one of the leading producers in Valtellina.
