The 2010 Chardonnay Rosella’s (from tank) is a focused, tightly-wound wine with plenty of freshness and minerality to support the fruit. The Rosella’s shows plenty of the characteristics of 2010, namely a cold summer and very late harvest. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2015. Adam and Dianna Lee of Siduri make the Novy wines in partnership with Dianna’s family. Essentially the Lees use the Novy brand for all of their non-Pinot wines. The range is quite broad, and quality generally excellent although a few wines I tasted suggest the Lees may be stretching themselves too thin. After tasting virtually all of their wines, it seems like they might be better off focusing on fewer bottlings, but that is just one person’s opinion. This full, opulent style of wine went through 100% malolactic and was aged in one-third new French oak, one-third neutral oak, and one-third stainless steel. This seems to have given the wine an exuberant, wonderfully fresh, rather ostentatious fruit quality, ranging from nectarines, white currant, and honeyed citrus to peach and some tropical fruit. It is a wonderfully fleshy, full-bodied wine, but at the same time elegant, with the oak clearly pushed way into the background. Drink it over the next 2-4 years. Tel.
