Pago de Cirsus’ 2009 Chardonnay Fermentado en Barrica is the only entry I was able to recommend. The wine spent 12 months in new French oak. Aromas of buttered popcorn, mineral, melon, and poached pear inform the nose of a round, smooth-textured, spicy, nicely proportioned Chardonnay whose oak is well-integrated. With good volume and concentration, it should drink well for another 4-5 years. Importer: F.L. Navarro, The Artisan Collection, Brooklyn, NY; Tel. (718) 596-0722
