Scavino’s 2011 Rosso da Tavola, a kitchen sink blend of numerous red varieties, is an attractive entry-level offering. This supple, generous wine is sure to find many admirers among consumers looking for a friendly, every day Piedmont red. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2014.
Enrico Scavino’s entry-level wines are very good, but not great. Scavino has chosen to make the wines at the lower end of his range in a much simpler style than his top wines, which sets him apart from most of his colleagues at the upper echelon of Barolo producers, many of whom make more important entry-level wines.
