The 2006 DOLIUM BRANCO ESCOLHA is all Antao Vaz. It pretty much gets rid of the funky aromas that marred the 2005. It opens with some traces of smoke, but here they all blow off. What is left is quite charming. There are heavy notes of hazelnuts, and the sur lie influence seems obvious. It is very Burgundian styled. If the oak seems obvious early on, it integrates very well. There is some power and intensity here, and the finish lingers quite respectably. Drink now-2011.You may see EBORAE VITIS E VINUS on some of the labels for this wine, as on the Dolium. That was a prior company, as I understand it. All of the wines should have Paulo Laureano Vinus as producer eventually, although the proprietary names like “Dolium” are what you will see in big letters on the front no matter what.Importer: Aidil Wines & Liquors, a division of Olde World Imports, Inc., Rahway, NJ; tel.
