The 2011 Thomas Hyland Riesling presents an intense nose of lemon juice, kumquat, chalk and white pepper. Light-bodied, very crisp and dry, it’s a little tight and austere at this stage, finishing long and citrusy. Approachable now, it should drink best from 2013 to 2017+. The first vintage of the good value Koonunga Hill Shiraz Cabernet was 1976. Back then it was labeled as “Claret” in reference to the style rather than the grapes.
