Packaged in a heavy glass bottle, the Peter Zemmer 2019 Alto Adige Pinot Noir Riserva Vigna Kofl (with 3,000 bottles made) shows a delicate presentation with candied blueberry, cassis and blue flower. This is a silky and fine expression that glides smoothly over the palate. The finish is thin and streamlined. Fruit comes from the Koflhof vineyard in Aldino, located at an outstanding 1,030 meters in elevation with gravel and limestone soils.

The Peter Zemmer 2018 Alto Adige Pinot Noir Riserva Vigna Kofl reveals a dark ruby color and a little more fruit weight compared to your average Pinot Noir from the far north of Italy. The wine shows lots of primary fruit that ranges from wild berry and cassis to pressed blue flower and wet earth or baked clay. It's a nice choice for a mushroom pasta. Just 3,000 bottles were released.

The 2017 Alto Adige Pinot Noir Riserva Vigna Kofl (with only 3,000 bottles made) offers a slightly more spicy and densely concentrated expression of this beautiful grape. The wine shows a dark ruby color and a mid-weight style. Dark cherry and wild berry cede to light touches of cinnamon and clove. I am reminded of cloves embedded into the skin of an orange. This wine would pair with duck or game hen.
