I tasted this wine twice within a few weeks, first in a blind flight of its peers and later in a bottle I ordered off a restaurant menu in Positano. On both occasions, I found the 2017 Greco di Tufo to be slightly heavy and oxidative in its flavor profile. The bouquet opens to notes of candied fruit, honey and sun-dried apricot. With the Greco di Tufo G recently in my memory (take the outrageously excellent 2010 vintage that scored 95+ points as a guidepost), this Greco falls short of that wine. The hot 2017 vintage has taken its toll in this case.

The 2016 Greco di Tufo is an immediately attractive wine that showcases great luminosity and general brightness. The bouquet is steady and beautifully intense with green apple, citrus and honeydew melon. The wine shows superb quality of aromas. The mouthfeel is snappy and bright with just enough acidity to keep the palate pleasantly refreshed. This is an excellent white wine made by Sabino Loffredo and his talented winery team.

The 2014 Greco di Tufo shows some oxidized notes of candied fruit and apple cobbler. This is a dense and creamy expression of the grape with good fullness and texture to give it support and staying power. The finish is nicely round and smooth.

Bright and lightly floral, with snappy acidity driving the flavors of peach skin, star fruit, hazelnut and pink grapefruit. Offers a clean-cut finish, accented by a hint of smoke. Drink now through 2017. 1,600 cases made, 32 cases imported.??–AN??Region: Italy / South / Greco di Tufo Select to Add

The 2013 Greco di Tufo shows beautiful luminosity and pretty tones of citrus, peach and pear. Fruit is sourced from the Santa Paolina and Prata areas with clay and limestone soils. Harvest ends the first week of October. This is a tonic and balanced effort with impressive fruit brightness and simple, clean lines. It needs another three or four years to flesh out further.
