The 2009 Trossos Tros Negre, tasted from a barrel sample, is a structured, large-scaled wine with an earthy minerality, a hint of balsamic, Asian spices, and assorted black fruits. In the glass it reveals considerable tannin balanced by layers of succulent fruit. Give it another 2-3 years of cellaring and drink it through 2029.
There are no role models of longevity for these massive Priorats as there are in Bordeaux or Rioja so my timeline involves speculation and extrapolation based on experience and the precision balance that this wine is revealing now.
