Made with 100% Garganega, the Prà 2016 Soave Classico Colle Sant'Antonio ferments in stainless steel and sees 18 months in large oak casks. Only 4,000 bottles were produced. The grapes see one extra month of hang time on the vines before harvest. This is a very pretty wine with deep and long-lasting fragrances that recall yellow rose, dried fruit and acacia honey. The wine shows beautifully aged mineral notes and hints of saltiness that are contrasted against its elegant, medium-bodied texture. This Soave Classico awards lots of pleasure.

The barrique-aged 1999 Soave Sant' Antonio is an ambitious wine with good concentration, a hint of honeysuckle, and additional weight. However, the wood is more noticeable in this 1999 than in the 1998 recommended last year. In issue #136 I listed Pra's two less expensive Soaves among the better values in the wine market. This 1998 was aged in barriques for eight months, but it reveals little evidence of wood. It is a concentrated, Burgundian-like effort with honeysuckle notes as well as a layered texture.
