Just four barrels were made, with grapes from a one-acre estate block of Pommard clone Pinot Noir planted more than 30 years ago. Detailed and brambly, with strawberry and cherry fruit, mottled with baking spices and chocolate. This interesting wine shuffles floral and wild berry flavors together, lays in some light herb, and rounds out the tannins. Though aged for 16 months in 40% new French oak, the barrel flavors are subdued.——P.G.(12/15/2009)—— 87
