Far better is the 2007 Malbec (100%) from the Pepper Bridge Vineyard. It was aged for 22 months in 68% new French oak. Lovely aromas of toasty oak, lavender, exotic spices, black cherry, and plum are followed by a sweetly-fruited, concentrated, intense, plush wine with outstanding volume and length. Give it 2-3 years of additional cellaring and drink it from 2013 to 2022. It compares favorably to similarly priced Malbecs from Mendoza, Argentina. Reininger Winery opened its doors in 1997. The wines are made by Chuck Reininger with lots of family help with winery operations.Tel. (509) 522-1994; www.reiningerwinery.com
