Cherry, berry, and cedar aromas with some rose stem follow through to a medium to full body with ripe fruit and creamy tannins that are impressive and structured, yet they are polished and long. Excellent depth. Give this three or four years to come around. Drink after 2025.

The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino reveals a ripe fruit profile with dried cherry and blackberry confit. The wine is very dry in taste, with oak spice, crushed stone and pressed roses. It feels thin on the mid-palate but extends graciously to a long, polished finish. Again, like many of the new releases from this vintage, we are looking at a near or medium-term drinking window. Production is 40,000 bottles.

Cherry, strawberry, iron, earth and tobacco aromas and flavors herald this intense, densely-structured red. Has a fresh character, plenty of fruit locked up by the dusty tannins and finishes long. The Renieri 2017 Brunello di Montalcino embraces freshness, vibrant fruit and punchy sour cherry aromas. In fact, I am surprised by the ethereal and light quality of this wine, given the hot vintage. This expression is redolent of earth, forest floor and garden roses. Some well-managed flavors of spice and toasted nut slip in gently at the end. Production is 30,000 bottles.
