From a dry spring in San Gimignano and a cooler summer, the Falchini 2018 Vernaccia di San Gimignano Ab Vinèa Doni shows a saturated color with broad aromas of orchard fruit and poached pear that emerge from the slightly diminished yield. The palate is rather neutral, although you do pick up on toasted almond, some exotic spice and plenty of dusty limestone and gravel. This wine paints an authentic portrait of what Vernaccia tastes like with a few years of age on it. Its strongest cards are played in terms of texture and mouthfeel. Exactly 5,333 bottles were released.
