One of the classics from Biale is their 2012 Petite Sirah Thomann Station Vineyard, a vineyard that was planted and managed by the Martini family. The color of the 2012 is a dense ruby/purple, and the wine exhibits pure blueberry and black raspberry fruit, a full-bodied mouthfeel, stunning richness, depth, and intensity, and a majestic finish. Drink it over the next 10-15 years.

The 2011 Petite Sirah Thomann Station comes from an old Louis Martini vineyard next to the railroad tracks in St. Helena. Chocolaty, blueberry and blackberry fruit intermixed with hints of lavender, scorched earth, barbecue smoke and spice emerge from this complex, full-bodied Petite Sirah that is soft, round and multidimensional. Sweet red cherries, plums and tobacco all meld together in the 2010 Petite Sirah Thomann Station. The Thomann Station is a more mid-weight wine. The aromas and flavors are very nicely layered, but there is just a touch of excitement missing. At the same time, the balance of intensity and structure makes the Thomann Station the most accessible and easygoing of these Petite Sirahs. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2018. The 2009 Petite Sirah Thomann Station comes across as quite powerful and tightly wound next to the Royal Punishers. Firm tannins frame expressive black fruit, olives, savory herbs and licorice in this focused, intense Petit Sirah. I especially like the energy and sheer drive of the finish.
