The 2011 Highness Riesling offers a good intensity of vibrant citrus aromas - fresh lime juice and lemon peel - over hints of orange blossom and crushed stones. Light bodied and dry on the palate, it gives a great concentration of lemon and grapefruit flavors marked by very crisp acidity, finishing long and zesty. Rolf Binder’s 2009 Riesling Highness has a lovely floral-accented perfume with aromas of citrus, melon, and honey. On the palate it reveals a touch of residual sugar (6 g/L) in a Mosel Kabinett style. It is likely to evolve for 2-3 years and offer pleasure through 2019. The 2005 Riesling Highness (a blend of 85% Eden Valley and 15% Barossa fruit) reveals gorgeous pithy green apple and pear-like notes with hints of citrus oil and crushed rocks in the background. Fragrant and chalky, with a distinctive terroir element, this dry Riesling should be enjoyed over the next year. Note: These wines were formerly sold under the Veritas name, but because of trademark problems, Rolf Binder is in the process of changing his wines’ labels.
