A blend of 66% Grenache, 28% Shiraz and 6% Mourvedre, the 2011 GSM is deep garnet-purple color in the glass with fragrant aromas of crushed raspberries, kirsch, white pepper and cloves with nuances of cardamom, preserved mandarin peel and roses. Medium-bodied, the mouth-filling spiced, red berry flavors are supported by a medium level of rounded tannins, crisp acid and long finish. Drink it now to 2017+. A blend of 59% Grenache, 32% Shiraz and 9% Mourvedre, the 2010 GSM is a deep garnet-purple color and shows aromas of stewed plums and blackberry preserves with underlying dried herb, underbrush and Indian spice hints. Medium to full-bodied with lots of berry preserve and pepper flavors in the mouth, there is just a touch of astringency to the medium level of chewy tannins yet it finishes long with a refreshing lift.
