A blend of 97% Shiraz and 3% Viognier, fermented in French oak, 10% new, and aged in oak for 14 months, the 2009 Progeny Shiraz gives a very deep purple black color and is intensely scented of black plums, mulberries, black berry preserves, menthol and dark chocolate. Very full bodied and rich in the mouth, it has a high level of refreshing acidity, medium to firm chewy tannins and a long pepper and spice finish. Delicious now, it should develop nicely over the next 3-5 years and drink to 2016. Sanguine Estate does not currently have a USA importer.
