Picked with 20% to 30% of botrytis, the Lieser 2016 Niederberg Helden Riesling Auslese –Goldkapsel– (AP #18) offers an intense and mineral-laced pain-aux-raisin aroma intertwined with a pretty intense reductive flavor that currently has a bit of the fascinating finesse of the regular Helden Auslese. Racy-piquant and sweet on the lush and elegant palate, with generous fruit intensity and an endless flow of salty-piquant and perfectly ripe Riesling juice, this is a highly promising and stimulating Auslese with a long, complex and grippy finish. Very salty in the aftertaste and, thus, mouthwatering. Please keep this wine for a decade, at least, should you manage to find a bottle. Tasted March 2018.
