This is an approachable and accessible red wine to pair with easy chicken or pork roast dinners. The well-priced 2014 Carignano del Sulcis Riserva Terre Rare offers bright aromas of cherry and cassis with a point of fruity sourness on the close. This is a mid-weight effort with good freshness and fine texture. You get great value here. Some 100,000 bottles were produced.

The 2005 Carignano del Sulcis Riserva Terrerare is a soft, easygoing red with excellent definition it its varietal aromas and flavors. Sweet herbs, flowers and tobacco linger on the finish. This is a pretty, if not particularly inspiring, wine. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2013. Sella e Mosca is one of the oldest and best-known wineries in Sardinia. The estate’s 2003 Carignano del Sulcis Riserva Terre Rare comes across as somewhat less polished. It features a wilder, more gamey set of aromas and flavors that dominate the sweet red fruit. A weightless, silky-textured red, it should drink beautifully over the next seven to eight years. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2015.Sella e Mosca’s history goes back all the way to the 19th century. Even though the estate produces a large quantity of wine, quality is quite high.
