The 2019 St Ignatius is a blend of 54% Cabernet, 28% Merlot, 12% Malbec and 6% Cabernet Franc. It has a really lovely intensity and flow of flavors, all of it cloistered within oak, which is spicy and resinous. This is charry, at this stage. The oak is 35% new oak, and perhaps the longer time in oak (18 months) accounts for the more obvious oak characters in the mouth and particularly through the finish. This has really great texture, although it is tannic; but the fruit is intense and pure, and so they work well together. It's clear that this wine will age well—the tannins and the oak are the foundation upon which the fruit will evolve slowly. This is very smart, but give it some time—a couple of years before opening.
