Notes of asphalt, camphor and creosote mark the nose of Shirvington's 2017 Shiraz, so readers are best advised to decant in advance (unless you're into those sorts of things...). Once past those scents, mixed berries emerge, along with notes of cedar and vanilla. Medium to full-bodied, this is a moderately rich, creamy-textured wine on the palate, with softly dusty tannins on the finish that suggest at least 5–7 years of aging potential. Tasted twice, with consistent notes.

Deep garnet with hints of purple, the 2012 Shiraz has aromas of preserved plums, mulberries and baked black cherries with spice cake, chocolate box and licorice hints. Full-bodied, rich and seductive with loads of spice and velvety tannins, it has great freshness and finishes with great length.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2011 Shiraz was 100% barrel-fermented and aged in 58% French and 42% American oak. The wine is intensely scented of warm blackberries, mulberries and preserved plums with nuances of menthol, incense and cinnamon stick. Full-bodied and packed with blackberry preserves and spice box flavors, it presents a seamless foundation of medium level, velvety tannins and lively acid before finishing with very good length. 1,136 six-bottle cases were made.
