The 2005 CALLABRIGA Dao is a blend of Tinta Roriz, Touriga Nacional and Alfrocheiro. Fruity, elegant and tasty, it is an easygoing wine with a little brightness on the finish. The mid-palate is rather modest, but it has a little more flesh, expansiveness and lushness than the low end Pena de Pato from Dao reviewed this issue, although the leaner Pena may actually have better structure. Drink now-2011. Sogrape is Portugal’s largest wine producer, making wine from many different vineyards and regions. The Callabriga line is Sogrape’s attempt to present various regional styles in affordable bottlings. The regular bottlings are all easygoing and tasty. Their Reserva counterparts add some depth and structure. Both lineups present some decent values.Importer: Evaton, Inc., Stamford, CT; tel: (203) 968-8220
