The 2008 Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes comes from primarily old vine Grenache from the sector known as La Crau, and is blended with small quantities of Mourvedre and Syrah. A dense ruby color is followed by notes of Provencal herbs, lavender, licorice, spice box, and plenty of red and black fruits, good breadth of flavor, and an attractive savory quality. It should age well for 8-10 years.
