The 2020 Bolgheri Rosso Caccia al Palazzo opens to jammy dark fruit with cherry confit and dried blackberry. This blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Cabernet Franc and 25% Merlot has definitely absorbed the heat of the vintage, although the full-bodied finish is quite dry with spice, black tea, clove and tobacco.

Managed by Vincenzo Di Vaira, the 2018 Bolgheri Rosso Caccia al Palazzo is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc that has been aged in oak for 10 months. This entry-level red offers fresh plum and black cherry followed by non-intrusive spice and toasted nut. This wine is nicely put together to produce an easy-drinking style to match your favorite pasta. Some 18,000 bottles were made.

The 2017 Bolgheri Rosso Caccia al Palazzo is a simple red wine with fresh fruit tones of cherry and blackberry presented in a straightforward manner. The fruit shows extra concentration in this hot vintage. The wine is pure and simpatico in terms of delivery and character.

There are some mousy notes to the 2016 Bolgheri Rosso Caccia al Palazzo, which could be an indication of some Brett. The ripeness of the fruit in this balanced vintage was nice, though. The blend is equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot (aged in oak for ten months). Production stands at about 14,000.

The 2015 Bolgheri Rosso Caccia Al Palazzo is Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot in equal parts. The wine opens to a dark garnet color with blackish background shadings. The fruit feels heavy and overripe. You get prune, plum and blackberry with savory spice in the back. There is not much of a margin here in terms of softness or brightness. Campfire ash and aromas of moist earth also appear.
