A limited production of 2,300 bottles, the 2018 Amistar Edizione is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, with some Merlot and Lagrein in the blend. It finishes in barrique for two years. This is a full-bodied red with an interesting contrast between tart, high-elevation flavors and the kind of natural richness and density that comes with these varieties. This vintage (written on the bottle as "X018") ultimately settles on elegance and freshness.

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, with smaller parts Merlot and Lagrein, the Peter S?lva 2017 Amistar Edizione is a limited-edition wine with just 2,600 bottles made. This wine represents a selection of the best barriques that are blended and left for an additional year of aging. This 2017 vintage was released in the summer of 2020. The wine is richly concentrated and dark in appearance with savory tones of dark fruit, dried prune, spice, tar and sweet to cured tobacco. This edition of Edizione shows lots of soft and rich texture.

The 2015 Amistar Edizione is a limited edition blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Lagrein, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. In terms of its appellation, the wine is identified as "Vino Rosso" and not IGT, which explains why the vintage is identified as X015 on the back label (as per regulation). This is a brooding expression with dark fruit, dried plum, prune, spice, leather and tobacco. You feel the density and deep inner structure of the tannic grape varieties set against the rich and succulent tones of the Merlot and the Lagrein. The latter Italian grape, Lagrein, makes the wine slightly wild and unpredictable as well. Fruit is sourced from vines in the Laives, Caldaro and Termeno areas from 250 to 450 meters above sea level.

The Peter S?lva 2011 Amistar Edizione represents a red blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon with equal parts Lagrein and Merlot. The wine is aged in oak for two years and you definitely feel that extra heft and concentration as a result. Then again, Lagrein is a naturally blackish and dark colored variety and the wine's appearance seems greatly influenced by the presence of that grape. The bouquet is profound and meaty with fleshy dark fruit followed by spice and moist chewing tobacco. The tannins are soft and rich.

The 2009 Amistar Edizione also represents a blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Lagrein all aged in barrique for two years. This is the most exciting wine among these new releases by Peter S?lva. Already evolved and showing signs of its age, the bouquet is redolent of licorice, dried fruit, tar, resin and candied ginger. The 2009 vintage will be remembered for its overall balance and power. The wine is elegant and finessed in its current state. Drink it now or wait a few more years.
