The 2007 RIESLING LATE HARVEST “SILVER” is revisited as a library wine this issue. The sweet, simple notes have integrated well and the wine shows good balance and considerable charm these days. The trade-off at this point in its life is a much more subdued demeanor, the wine being no longer terribly sugary, while still sweet, with its parts restrained and well integrated. For fans of German Riesling, there is little tension to speak of. The underlying acidity is also subtle, coming to the fore as the fruit fades a bit with air. There is nothing here truly distinctive, but it has a reached a more pleasing place than I thought it would, some of its parts clearly aging, but not decaying. It can hold longer, but there is really little point to letting it do so. This should be its peak moment now and I would continue to be conservative on drinking windows until it proves otherwise.
