There isn’t much Sangio in Washington, but the Pepper Bridge fruit is the pick of the litter. Ripe and nicely colored, this is 100% Sangiovese and actually shows some hints of pepper, tobacco and tea leaf. This is a firm, taut, even steely Sangio, with tart fruit flavors of strawberry and currant. Tannins are firm and slightly green, and there is an earthy, mineral undercurrent. Still quite young and tightly wound.——P.G.(7/1/2004)—— 87

This is a very young Sangio, with a grapey, bread-dough nose. Caraway and watermelon scents can be found, and it’s an interesting, light and forward wine, with nice balance and some herbal character. The finish is chalky, with charcoal and ash. ——P.G.(2/1/2002)—— 87
