The 2005 Slice of Pape is made up of 56% Grenache, 38% Syrah, and 6% Cinsault aged for 30 months in 40% new French oak. The Cinsault component was aged in 10-hectoliter ovals. Medium purple-colored, it sports an already complex bouquet of sandalwood, Asian spices, incense, lavender, garrigue, black cherry, and black raspberry. This is followed by a full-bodied, lavish, layered wine with loads of spicy fruit, good concentration, and excellent balance. It can be enjoyed over the next 8-10 years.Tranche Cellars is a label owned by Corliss.Tel. (509) 526-4400; www.corlissestates.com
